Mumbai: Shiv Sena head Bal Thackeray has showered his agitation over UPA president Sonia Gandhi saying that she was taking the country into the depth of darkness.
In an interview in his party mouthpiece Saamna, Thackeray claimed that there was no ancestor’s politics in the Shiv Sena. He said this, comparing Shiv Sena with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
He also took Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi under his outspoken charge and said that he has the ambitions of becoming the next Prime Minister. This is all because of the ancestor’s politics existence in Congress Party.
“But I have never nominated Uddhav Thackeray (his son) or Aditya Thackeray (his grandson),” he said.
“Rahul wants to become the Prime Minister. Does he think the post of the PM is a seat in Bhindi-bazaar”, he said, referring to a market in the city.
The 80-years old leader commented on Rahul Gandhi’s sister, Priyanka Vadra, saying that her accent is quite similar to former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.
Bal Thackeray admired Indira Gandhi’s courage and decisive action against Pakistan during the 1971 Indo-Pak war that led to the creation of Bangladesh.
“But Assam is part of our own country. Why isn’t the Army cracking down on infiltration today,” asked Bal Thackeray, referring to the recent riots in Assam.
‘Hang Afzal, Kasab,’ exclaimed Bal Thackeray.
This was his statement for Ajmal Amir Kasab and Afzal Guru, referring to the pending sentences of Parliament terror attack accused Afzal Guru and the recent one Kasab awarded for the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. Thackeray hit out at the 11-year delay in carrying out Afzal Guru’s sentence.
“Why can’t they be hanged? Or have we run out of ropes due to farmers’ suicides?” he wondered.
He said that he is very ashamed of the August 11 riots near Azad Maidan. He added that there was not even a single riot happened when Maharashtra Government was led by Shiv Sena.
